Karl Rock, a YouTuber who received accolades from Kejriwal for donating plasma last year, claims that the Indian government has him blacklisted.

Karl Rock, a YouTuber who goes by the moniker Karl Edward Rice, claims that the Indian government has blacklisted him and barred him from entering the nation. His wife, an Indian national who lives in the city, has challenged the move in the Delhi High Court.

Karl is a YouTuber that gives travel suggestions for tourists visiting India. He is originally from New Zealand. He married in 2019 and moved to Pitampura, Delhi, with his wife and her family.

He stated in a YouTube video titled "Why I haven't seen my wife in 269 days" that he was separated from his wife and in-laws because the Indian government had banned him.

For breaking the terms and conditions of his visa, the New Zealand national has been barred from entering India till next year, according to authorities from the Union Home Ministry. “He was on a tourist visa but doing business,” an official explained.

Karl had strictly followed the rules of the country and the terms of his visa, according to the court petition, and there had been no complaints against him. Following his marriage, he was granted an X-2 visa, which was valid until 2024 and was intended for spouses and children of Indian nationals. One of the visa's requirements was that he leave India every 180 days or notify the relevant Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO).

His most recent visit to India was in November of this year. He had registered in Mussoorie'sLandour School of Languages to study Hindi, but was stuck due to the March 2020 countrywide lockdown.

His visa was cancelled at the Delhi Airport when he was leaving India in October 2020 to fly to Dubai and Pakistan. He sought for a new visa in Dubai and was then summoned to the Indian High Commission, where he was informed that he had been placed on a blacklist.

According to the appeal, despite meeting all of the requirements, his visa was revoked as he was leaving Delhi.

“I was not given an explanation why I had been blacklisted,” Karl told The Indian Express over the phone from New Zealand. It was suggested that I contact the Ministry of Home Affairs. When my wife attempted, she was ignored and received no assistance.”

He and his family have been rushing from pillar to post to remedy the matter since then, he claimed. His wife and in-laws had contracted the virus during the second Covid wave, and he was anxious for them but couldn't be there.

Many people on social media assumed that he was blacklisted because he photographed and videotaped an anti-CAA protest location. This video was later removed off the internet. “My wife and I went and filmed our experience,” Karl remarked. However, we have no way of knowing whether this is the reason for the blacklisting. We've filed a writ petition to get to the bottom of it.”

Karl has 1.79 million followers on Twitter. He and his wife discuss corruption in Indian politics in one of his videos. Karl, on the other hand, said he doesn't want to speculate on why he was blacklisted.
