Paris Saint-Germain defeated Bayern Munich during the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final at the Allianz Arena on Thursday morning WIB, April 8, 2021. Les Parisiens won 3-2.

The victory that according to PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino came because of the sacrifice of his men. They played it all out to withstand the onslaught of Bayern.

Pochettino's words didn't just come out because he saw the game going on. But statistics also corroborate this opinion.

Bayern's possession of the ball reached 63 percent. Not only that, there were 31 attempts against PSG. It already indicates how pressing the hosts did.

Miserable withstand the onslaught but ended in delicious victory made the PSG players happy. Pochettino expressed his appreciation.

"I am pleased with the results and the attitude of the team which managed to find themselves in difficult situations against the best European teams," said Pochettino.

"We need to congratulate the players for their sacrifice and we want to repeat this," he added.

Regarding the selection of players and the formations he used are also intriguing. For example, he plotted Neymar behind Kylian Mbappe, who was the spearhead.

"It's easier to explain your choice when you win. Everyone thinks you made the right choice. But, credit must go to the players," said Pochettino.

With a game like this against Bayern, Pochettino believes his players can continue their steps in the Champions League. He wants to maintain this momentum to stare at the second leg which is also predicted to be fierce.

"This is their quality that we need to highlight. They made many sacrifices, but we still have other games to play. We know the second leg will be difficult," he said.
