Police is making all-out efforts to release the kidnapped jawan. Bastar IG Sundararaj P said that the mediators of the village, including the media, have been engaged in this work. A intensive search of the area is also being conducted.
Naxalites can release Rakeshwar Singh Manhas, a jawan kidnapped after the Bijapur encounter, in two days. Naxalites have informed about this by calling a journalist from Bijapur. Earlier, the Naxalites had placed a condition with the government for the release of the jawan. The banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) had issued a letter expressing a desire to negotiate with the central government. The organization proposed to appoint center mediators to release the abducted jawans.
Journalist Ganesh Mishra told, 'I got a call twice from the Naxalites that a jawan is in their custody. He said that the jawan has been shot and he has been treated. He will be released in 2 days. A video and photo of the jawan will be released soon.'
At the same time, in their two-page letter, the Naxalites have said, '24 security personnel were killed in the Bijapur attack, 31 were injured, 1 is in custody. Four soldiers of the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army lost their lives. We are ready to talk to the government. They can declare arbitrators. We will release him. Jawan is not our enemy.'
