Till some time back there were reports that the electric avatar of Maruti WagonR would be launched in India. But with time or lack of technology it was put on hold. But so far no specific information could be found about its launching.

Maruti Suzuki India has recently set a target of selling 2 million cars annually. This goal clearly means that the company will have to launch a lot of new cars. The point to note here is that the Maruti brand is in alliance with Toyota globally and is going to design hybrid systems for mini, compact and commercial vehicle platforms. In which both brands will build a small electric platform and add it to the hybrid vehicle line-up.
